Cultural Exchange Program Visits Japan

A group of South Side High School ambassadors recently traveled to Osaka, Japan to visit with the students and families of Taishi and learn more about the Japanese school system.  This global partnership has been sustained for over fifteen years now through our Cultural Exchange Program.  Staff chaperones were Jeff Stinson, Sam Adams, Shawn North and Nancy Lucas.  Student ambassadors were Alexandra Adams, Landon Allison, Britney Chiccarello, Ashley Chiccarello, Kyle Maxwell, Meara Adams-Moots, and Suzanne Ries.  While all the ambassadors stayed with different host families, sometimes as far as 30 minutes apart, the group came together daily to visit local schools as well as cultural and historical landmarks.  The students cited their time spent with the host families and at the elementary school, as well as the sightseeing excursions as trip highlights.  There were mixed reviews on the food!  Overall, everyone had a wonderful time experiencing the Japanese culture and taking part in this wonderful opportunity.
